Veselin Marinov
Veselin Marinov is a Finance and Economics major at the University of Bologna with a profound interest in the field and an ardent ambition to develop the financial culture and education in Bulgaria. He is a former competitor in the International Economics Olympiad, as he took part in IEO 2025 and earned a bronze medal as well as 5th place for the Bulgarian team for the business case, while being the team leader. Furthermore, he was first in the National Economics Competition in 2025, organized by UNWE. He currently works for the Portfolio management department at “Riot Investment Research”, which is a society under the biggest financial club in Italy “Starting Finance”. Veselin also has internship experiences as a COGS analyst in “Coca-Cola HBC” and as an accountant and assistant with auditing procedures in “Ross Audit”.
Before pursuing his higher education, he was a renowned student of the prestigious Instituto Bilingüe di Bachillerato “Miguel de Cervantes”. While he studied there, he took part in the national competitions in English, Mathematics and Economics. Moreover, he authored articles for the school magazine and profiled in higher mathematics and entrepreneurship, resulting in the development of a mix of skills and knowledge, both in exact sciences and humanities.
His participation in the International Economics Olympiad marks a key point in his life, where he underachieved his ambition for the gold medal, despite his deep understanding of the subjects and good preparation. Consequently, he grew eager to achieve this goal by helping the consecutive Bulgarian team with his knowledge and experience, although unable to participate again himself. Now he is a staple part of our team and we are looking forward to realizing his ardent ambition for the Bulgarian team at the top of the podium at IEO 2026.
