Veselin Marinov
Veselin Marinov is a Finance and Economics major at the University of Bologna with a profound interest in the field and an ardent ambition to develop the financial culture and education in Bulgaria. He is a former competitor in the International Economics Olympiad, as he took part in IEO 2025 and earned a bronze medal as well as 5th place for the Bulgarian team for the business case, while being the team leader. Furthermore, he was first in the National Economics Competition in 2025, organized by UNWE. Later, as a university student he earned 3rd place at the National Investment & Finance Competition, organized by BSE. He currently works for the Portfolio management department at “Riot Investment Research”, which is a society under the biggest financial club in Italy “Starting Finance”. Moreover, he is a lecturer at the third edition of “Academy of Economics, Finance & Entrepreneurship”. Veselin also has internship experiences as a COGS analyst in “Coca-Cola HBC” and as an accountant and assistant with auditing procedures in “Ross Audit”. This summer he is to have yet another internship, this time at the Bulgarian Stock Exchange.
Before pursuing his higher education, he was a renowned student of the prestigious Instituto Bilingüe di Bachillerato “Miguel de Cervantes”. While he studied there, he took part in the national competitions in English, Mathematics and Economics. Moreover, he authored articles for the school magazine and profiled in higher mathematics and entrepreneurship, resulting in the development of a mix of skills and knowledge, both in exact sciences and humanities.
Veselin is deeply committed to his ambition of becoming the youngest teacher to lead Bulgaria to gold medals. A clear testament to his drive is how he successfully balances his studies in Italy with training the Bulgarian team and managing his other initiatives. As a teacher, he maintains a close bond with the competitors and is always available for questions or support of any kind. Despite the small age gap between Veselin and his students he is a mentor who inspires and encourages them through personal example and experience, preparing them with the most modern and innovative approaches. He is a staple part of our team and we are looking forward to realizing his ardent ambition for the Bulgarian team at the top of the podium at IEO 2026.
